Perhaps some day!

All I see in that 850Ci is pain and suffering.

That’s an 840. Not nearly as painful. But definitely more painful than a Celica

Look, if you’re gonna want an unreliable Binner, you might as well want the 850Ci, y’know?

Have you ever driven a 635? I’ve worked on them and therefore driven them, and holy balls they’re slow. At least with an auto (which is basically a sadistic torture device). But as I don’t like BMW manuals it wouldn’t make it much better.

But you’re all set on Celicas right? I saw this one, and it seemed like your kind of thing:

Mmm, I think there must’ve been something wrong with the one you drove. They’re not fast by any means but not slow either.

I think the biggest problem was the slushbox, but I’m comparing its speed to modern cars, because I don’t like old cars.

You have a c230 right? I know that mine (slushy, very lightly modified as far as go fast parts goes) is a bit faster to 60 than a stock c230 hatch.
(Really not trying to be a dick or anything, just trying to put it into perspective)
For an older car they can at least keep up with modern cars in a straight line, so definately not slow. Also like I said not fast either, if it can’t get to 60 in less than 5.5 ish seconds I’d say a car is about average these days.

Swap in a J-series with a manual transmission? Because V6 and Honda manual.

Yeah a Kompressor sedan.
The car I drove was a higher mileage, poorly maintained, slushy slush box that was probably going to break. It just felt a lot slower than E36's and E46's (all bases, not the bigger engines). Compared to my car it didn’t feel as fast. My car also doesn’t feel sluggish at all. It’s nearly as fast as an E46 330, I’ve raced my friend quite a few times and she only beats me near the end, off the line I beat her.
But I’ve never timed anything, I’m just going off my butt dyno which is tuned more towards detecting driveability issues, not determining exact horsepower. My dyno is tuned more towards noticing weight and the balance of that weight. An example would be a manual E39 540 manual compared to a last gen Camaro SS manual. The SS was definitely fast, but I felt that weight. Same goes for Mustangs. And an E46 M3 blows all of them out of the water.

There is so much NOPE in that comment, I can’t even...

Fair enough, I also can’t speak to the condition of the c230 I *ahem* tested accelerations with, though it didn’t have a misfire, or smell bad. also poor e24 :(
I agree the e46 m3 is pretty awesome. The last m3 that I would buy with my own money.

I think mine is a rare example because A: It looks amazing. There’s actually another white one, bone stock, that I see all the time. It’s not bad, but it’s not obsessed over like mine, and damn it looks boring. Those small wheels and big fender gaps are baaad. And B: The motor is spotless. Unfortunately though the previous owners never did coolant flushes so there was a teeny tiny coolant leak coming from the back of the head so I of course took it off, and the valves looked brand new, and there was no carbon on the cylinders. I take care of my cars. I even service the supercharger. I’d love to overdrive it, but I can’t find anything for it anymore.
My friends E46 on the other hand, has been neglected, and actually now undrivable, so maybe taken care of she would have been able to beat me. But the torque I have off the line is quite impressive and makes for a lot of fun because I can get my Super Sports to slip very easily, which is awesome.
I borrowed an M3 for a week and that was a huge mistake. Now that I’m done with school I’m buying one and I’m going to tune the shit out of it. That car is amazeballs.

Sounds like a pretty nice car. Hooray for the few of us who care to keep our engines clean, inside and out.
Borrowing a car that’s faster than what you own is always a mistake. An awesome mistake that leads to horrible decisions. Which of course are the best kind.

No kidding man! I never get tired of the “Nice car!” comments. The funniest of those are from officers that have just pulled me over lol. People always comment to my mom too how nice my car is, and she kind of laughs and tells them I always enjoy hearing that. It sort of validates the shit ton of time I spend on both my cars, inside and out.
A HUGE mistake. Living with it is really the worst mistake anyone can make. It fit in my spot in the garage (I left my Mercedes in my friend’s garage), which also doesn’t help. I did have some willpower and I didn’t buy it on the spot, I am waiting till it isn’t as stupid to do.

There’s a very real possibility of me ending up with a sharknose 6series when the Crossfire gets kicked out of the garage this summer. I’ve been mainly looking at e30's and e34's though.
However, I’m also very interested in the 7-series of the era, especially with the 5-speed manual. Just so oddball.
Ever see this combo?Bring a trailer had it a while bback, ironically enough.

Yeah I didn't think about that.
